City of Dallas Urban Heat Island Study Update

What

The City of Dallas office of Environmental Quality and Sustainability (OEQS) will provide a presentation about the findings of the 2023 NationalOceanic Atmospheric Association (NOAA) Reveal Heat Island Study.

Approximately 70 community volunteersjoined with City of Dallas staff and NOAA representatives to test 103.3 miles of Dallas' 300-mile radius.The maximumdifferential temperature wastracked to be10 degrees Fahrenheit.The hottest areas were also examined for environmental justice (EJ) concerns.

OEQS plans to map the remainderof the Cityin the summer of 2024.
