The meeting highlighted significant efforts made by ZIE in curriculum development and teacher training, with UNESCO playing a pivotal role in supporting these efforts. Dr. Abdallah Mohamed Mussa, the ZIE Chief Executive Officer,expressed gratitude for UNESCO's continued support.
UNESCO has been an invaluable partner in our journey to improve education in Zanzibar. Their expertise and resources have been instrumental in helping us develop a more relevant and effective curriculum
Dr. Abdallah Mohamed Mussa furtherhighlighted ZIE's recent accomplishments, including development of competency-based curricula, teacher training programs, and the implementation of innovative assessment methods, is grounded on the UNESCOs support.
Ms. Faith Shayo, UNESCO Dar es Salaam Head of Education Sector, commended ZIE for its commitment to quality education and expressed UNESCO's willingness to continue providing support. UNESCO pledged to provide technical support for teacher training programs. The meeting further explored ways to enhance IQBA's capacity to support teacher education and curriculum development. Finally, ZIE's membership in the Africa Curriculum Association was highlighted, and the potential for further international collaboration was discussed.
Both organizations agreed on the importance of regular review and curricula update to meet evolving student needs.
Looking ahead, both ZIE and UNESCO stressed on mutual ambitious plans to further strengthen the education system in Zanzibar. UNESCO committed to continuing providing technical assistance in curriculum development, teacher training, and educational research. ZIE, in turn, will continue to work closely with UNESCO and other partners to ensure that all learners in Zanzibar have access to quality education.
This partnership is a testament to our shared commitment to providing every child in Zanzibar with the opportunity to succeed and We look forward to working together to achieve this goal
In concluding the meeting, Ms. Shayo expressed her gratitude to the entire team from ZIE for taking time to visit UNESCO in Dar es salaam and stressed on the importance of forming a partnership to enhance the provision of quality education in Zanzibar.
