IP e Tramesa arrancam com autoestrada ferroviária Valência-Entroncamento em bitola ibérica

Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) and the Spanish logistics operator Tramesa, belonging to the Armando Álvarez group, last week signed a protocol for the implementation of a railway motorway on the Portuguese part of the route between Valencia and Entroncamento.

The protocol establishes the necessary collaboration between the Portuguese and Spanish companies for the development and commissioning of a railway highway in Iberian gauge on the railway corridor between Valencia and Entroncamento in a first phase, and then to the ports of Setúbal and Sines.

In a second phase, the requirements of the Lisbon-Valongo corridor and the connection to Spain via the Beira Alta Line will be evaluated.

The agreement foresees that IP assumes the responsibility of verifying the compatibility of the transport of semi-trailers of the type P400 and of coordinating with the ADIF the homogeneity of the requirements of the railway highways along the international corridors.

Tramesa, in turn, must guarantee the homologation of the wagons with the Portuguese railway authorities, the obtaining of the necessary rolling stock and the suitability of the origin and destination terminals for the operation of the trains and the means of loading/unloading necessary for the operation of wagons in Portugal.

The protocol signing ceremony took place at IP's headquarters in Almada and was attended by the presidents of the boards of directors of IP and Tramesa, Miguel Cruz and José Ramón Álvarez, respectively.

The presidents of the two companies highlighted the importance of a project of this nature, in terms of efficiency, and pointed out the interest for IP and Tramesa in this activity and use of the infrastructure, with Miguel Cruz underlining the impact of this work on the relationship between the managers of infrastructure in the two Iberian countries.
