Pacific Park Monuments Unveiled

On Saturday, March 23, 2024, a special neighborhood ceremony was hosted by the City of Santa Ana Public Works Agency for the unveiling of the Pacific Park monuments entrance signs. The refurbishment of the monument signs commemorates the "Pacific Park" neighborhood name. The neighborhood entry monuments are located at two areas: two at Walnut Street and Cypress Avenue and two at McFadden Avenue and Cedar Street. Councilmember Benjamin Vazquez, Councilmember Jessie Lopez, and Councilmember David Penaloza joined Public Works Agency Executive Director Nabil Saba, and other City staff and community members at the ceremony to celebrate the refurbished monuments signs.

The original construction (1983) and refurbishment of the monument signs is extra special for the Pacific Park neighborhood because one of their very own neighbors was involved in the both the original construction and refurbishment of the monuments, Mr. Luis Garcia. Mr. Garcia works for the company that originally built the monuments and he is the one that installed the decorative rocks and wrought iron on the refurbished signs. Another fun fact about Mr. Garcia, he is the father of Hilda Lopez, the current Pacific Park Neighborhood Association president. We also want to recognize Pacific Park neighbor, Selica Diaz (previous President of Pacific Park) for her dedication to refurbish the signs with the Pacific Park neighborhood name.

We thank the City's Leadership, the Mayor and Council for supporting the refurbishment of the monuments signs. We also thank our City staff for leading the efforts in the approval and installation of the monuments.
