The Quirinal Treaty: Joint Press Dossier of the Embassies of Italy in France, and France in Italy on 2023, the year of entry into force

Just a few days before the second anniversary of the signing of the Quirinal Treaty between Italy and France on 26 November, the Embassies of Italy in France, and France in Italy have compiled a joint press dossier on the main achievements in bilateral cooperation in 2023, the year the Treaty comes into force.

"2023 marks the entry into force of the Quirinal Treaty signed between Italy and France and, at the same time, the two-year anniversary of its signing on 26 November", the Ambassador of Italy to France, Emanuela D'Alessandro, and the Ambassador of France to Italy, Martin Briens, state in the joint editorial opening the press dossier. "A year full of progress for French-Italian cooperation, which is increasingly solid and dynamic in all areas", the two Ambassadors add, also emphasising how "in a context characterised by multiple challenges, both at international and European level, numerous milestones envisaged by the Treaty have been reached jointly by the two countries: the launch of joint initiatives and consultation formats laid down by the Treaty, both in foreign and European affairs cooperation and in defence, the economy and industry, justice, youth, security, the civil service and cross-border cooperation. The dialogue continued and was deepened at all levels on all common priorities".

For Ambassador D'Alessandro and Ambassador Briens, "the year was also marked by significant moments in the friendship between our two countries. Suffice it to think of the inauguration by Presidents Sergio Mattarella and Emmanuel Macron of the exceptional "Naples à Paris" exhibition at the Louvre, with the display of masterpieces from the Capodimonte Museum, or the announcement of the "Grand Départ" of the Tour de France 2024, which will start from Italy for the first time. In the spirit of the Treaty, numerous meetings were also held between the Italian and French authorities in both Rome and Paris. In addition to numerous occasions of exchange on the sidelines of European and international meetings, the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, had bilateral meetings in Paris on 20 June and in Rome on 26 September".

The joint press dossier is available here in Italian and here in French.
