Larson Celebrates the 30th Anniversary of Family and Medical Leave

East Hartford, CT - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Family and Medical Leave Act, the first national law of its kind to help workers meet the dual demands of work and family. As President of the Connecticut State Senate, Rep. Larson authored and passed the first Family and Medical Leave Act in the country, which served as the model for the national law.

"Access to family and medical leave is transformative to families," said Larson. "As we celebrate this milestone, we recommit ourselves to fighting for paid family and medical leave so no family must choose between caring for a loved one and paying their bills. I'm proud of my work in the Connecticut State Senate and the progress our state has made to offer paid leave since then, but we will continue the fight at the national level to ensure every family in every state has access."
