PerForm Water 2030 project awarded by the Lombardy Region: the SIAD Biology Laboratory in the research team

Last Dec. 15, 2022, 'Designing the Future of Water Management: Perform Water 2030' was awarded by the Lombardy Region's 'Lombardy Innovative' initiative, which recognizes supply chains of excellence that adopt innovative models, i.e., capable of generating value and increasing their competitiveness of the territory.

PerFORM WATER 2030 is a model that aims to guide the Integrated Water Service in its transition to environmental, technological and digital excellence, applying the principles of the circular economy along the way. Within the project, SIAD has experimented with:

• The use of ozone to remove emerging and resistant micropollutants from wastewater leaving the treatment plant.
• The use of pure oxygen and ozone in minimizing sludge production on the water line and sludge line
• The study of aerosols and emissions in their different components within the treatment chain of the sewage treatment plant.

Perform Water 2030 is a synergy project for clean water and air: it has aggregated eight industrial entities and three universities, including the Politecnico di Milano as scientific coordinator, and research institutes led by Cap Holding, manager of the integrated water service for the metropolitan city of Milan
