The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment has released reports summarising data from the 2019 Migrant and Community Surveys.
The Migrant and Community Surveys were first administered in 2009 as part of a programme to provide evidence for monitoring the immigration system, both from the perspective of migrants and the New Zealand communities in which they live.
The reports cover a wide range of information relating to community attitudes towards migrants and immigration, and recent migrants' settlement and labour market experiences. As well as the 2019 data, each report contains information showing trends across time in key focus areas.
Data from both surveys are used by teams around MBIE including Immigration New Zealand, Labour and Immigration Policy, Market Services, and Strategic Policy and Programmes.
