April 26, 2024.- The Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency, in collaboration with the Civil Guard, has intervened in the port of Algeciras (Cádiz) about 25,000 kilos of hidden hashish in a truck from Morocco, whose market value could have reached 50 million euros.

The intervention took place in the cabotage area, where the truck was marked as suspicious by a civil guard from the cynological group with her drug detection dog, after which the inspection of the vehicle began. It was then that the agents opened the trailer of the truck that, according to the documentation presented by the driver, was transporting melons to Perpignan.

Inside the trailer, the agents found 22 wooden compartments inside which a large number of bales of hashish were hidden, surprising the investigators that, however, of the declared legal product there were only a small number of units.

According to the merchandise extracted so far, a weight of 25,000 kilos of hashish is estimated, which would represent the largest seizure of this substance by road traffic since 2015, when the intervention of almost 48 tons of hashish was carried out. , also in Algeciras and hidden in two trucks.

The truck driver has been arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health and has been placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
