The Las Cruces City Council will meet for a Work Session at 1 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2023, in Council Chambers at City Hall, 700 N. Main St.

Representatives from 988, the Doña Ana County Crisis Triage Center, the County Health Department, and Project LIGHT, will join Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority for a presentation to City Council regarding behavioral health crisis dispatching and how the 911 and 988 emergency systems are working in Las Cruces and throughout the county. Behavioral health call and dispatching statistics will be discussed by City Council along with protocols used to transfer calls to 988.

The caller to 988 is routed to the nearest crisis center to receive immediate counseling and local mental health referrals.

Additionally, the City's Sustainability Office will present its quarterly update to the Council. The update will focus on the progress and opportunities related to sustainability, most often through the lens of climate change.

On Oct. 5, 2020, the Council adopted the Las Cruces Climate Action Plan. This ongoing series will continue with Monday's third report to City Council on renewable energy through municipal projects, residential and commercial solar adoption, a potential community solar project, and the impact from the New Mexico Energy Transition Act.
