Cameron University awards scholarships to art, music and theatre arts students

The Cameron University Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts has announced scholarship awards for students majoring in one of the department's three academic disciplines, as well as one scholarship that is presented to a non-music major.

Art students who received a McMahon Foundation Scholarship are Kanney Do, Mathew Gonzalez and Camila Ramos Tobar, Lawton; Dayton Horn, Clinton; and Susan Morren, Norman.

Gonzales also received the art program's Exceptionalism Award, which recognizes an all-around highly achieving art student who is friendly, outgoing, and helpful to the faculty and other students. Criteria includes outstanding performance in the making of art (skill, idea, and work production) and high marks in studio and art history courses.

Jaden Pebeahsy, Lawton, received the Leslie Powell Scholarship

Tuition waivers were awarded to art students Sooner Meyer, Walters; Kaylee Atadley, Anadarko; and Mallory Cajas, Lawton.

Music students receiving McMahon Foundation Scholarships are Ryley Balius, Okmulgee; and Sophia Avila, Lillie Hodgson, Matthew Hogg and Haylie Kousman, Lawton. Hodgson also received the Marjorie Farrell Endowed Scholarship and the Linda Doane Endowed Scholarship in Music.

Hogg was honored with the music program's Exceptionalism Award, which recognizes an all-around highly achieving music student who is friendly, outgoing, and helpful to the faculty and other students. Criteria includes outstanding performance as a musician (preparedness, technique and expressiveness) and high marks in studio lessons, music theory and/or music history and ensemble.

Alexander Miller and Grace Norbury, Lawton, and Mykayla Waller, Altus, received the Philip S. and Aldine Cash Endowed Scholarship in Music.

Savannah Stephens, Lawton, was honored with the Elizabeth Adcock Endowed Scholarship, which is awarded to a non-music major who is a member of the concert band.

Music students receiving tuition waivers were Edward Clark, Lillie Wright, Kirstin Dunn and Kaitlan Kaulaity, all of Lawton.

Theatre arts students Victor Quinones, Lawton; Natalie Small, Victoria Spruill, Jaiden Standridge, Duncan; and Shayson Hodges, Comanche, received McMahon Foundation Scholarships.

Joceline Hernandez and Tamia Johnson, both of Lawton, received tuition waivers.

Maliah Davis, Lawton, received the theatre arts program's Exceptionalism Award which recognizes an all-around highly achieving theatre arts student who is friendly, outgoing, and helpful to the faculty and other students. Criteria includes outstanding performance in the creation of theatre design, technical and/or performance, high marks in theatre courses and a strong drive for the collaborative arts.
