PennDOT's Washington County Maintenance Update -- Week of April 22, 2024

Uniontown, PA - Washington County Maintenance Manager Susan Howard announced the following tentative work plan for the week of April 22, 2024. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations.

Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive with caution through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the use of headlights. Safety is everyone's responsibility.

Crack seal paving:

  • Route 88 (Front Street) in Allenport, California, Centerville, Charleroi, Elco and Stockdale boroughs and Carroll, East Bethlehem, and Fallowfield townships.
Debris removal:
  • Route 40 (Main Street) in Centerville and West Brownsville boroughs and West Pike Township.
  • Interstate 70 in Canton, Fallowfield, North Franklin, Somerset, and South Strabane townships, Speers and Twilight boroughs, and City of Washington.

Inlet cleaning/repair:

  • Route 844 (Washington Pike) in Independence Township.
  • Route 844 (Jefferson Avenue) in Canton Township.
  • Route 4008 (Langeloth Road) in Smith Township.
  • Route 4012 (Grant Street) in Smith Township.

Mowing:

  • Route 221 (Chestnut Street Extension) in Buffalo Township.
  • Interstate 70 Ramps 8014 (Jefferson Avenue) and Ramp 8025 (Donora).
  • Route 22 Ramp 8046 in Hanover Township.
  • Route 519 Park and Ride Ramp 9501 in North Strabane Township.
Patching:
  • Interstate 70 in Buffalo, Canton, Donegal, North Franklin, and South Strabane townships and City of Washington.
Shoulder cutting:
  • Route 3008 (Jolly School Road) in South Franklin Township.
  • Route 3011 (Mounts Road) in Buffalo and Canton townships.
  • Route 4022 (Pleasant Valley Road) in Buffalo and Canton townships and City of Washington.
  • Route 4024 (Rural Valley Road) in Blaine, Buffalo, and Canton townships.
  • Route 4053 (Atlas Street) in Canton Township.
  • Route 4055 (Smiley Road) in Canton Township.
  • Route 4057 (Reed Road) in Blaine and Hopewell townships.
  • Route 4059 (Post Road) in Blaine and Hopewell townships.
Slide repair:
  • Route 4024 (Taylorstown Ridge Road) in Blaine Township.
  • A posted detour will be in place using Route 4024 (Taylorstown Ridge Road), Route 221 (Main Street/Buffalo Creek Road), and Route 4059 (Post Road).

Litter crews will be picking litter on various routes throughout the county as weather and other activities permit.

Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and work orders will be addressed on various state routes throughout the County.

PennDOT has a toll-free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern. This number can also be utilized to report locations of dead deer on state highways. The number is 1-800-FIX ROAD (1-800-349-7623).

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
