BLM Colorado hires Gordon Toevs as Associate State Director

LAKEWOOD, Colo.- BLM Colorado State Director Doug Vilsack announced the selection of Gordon Toevs as the new Associate State Director. Toevs, a 17-year BLM veteran, has been acting in the position since October. He officially joins BLM Colorado from the BLM National Operations Center where he was the Division Chief for Resource Services since 2019.

"Gordon brings a depth and breadth of BLM experience that allows us to continue tackling key issues across the state," said Doug Vilsack. "I am looking forward to having Gordon as a permanent member of our BLM Colorado family as we work to implement sustainability and land health initiatives and address the impacts of climate change."

As Associate State Director, Toevs will be responsible for a variety of programs including workforce planning, budget, resource management planning and development of ecosystem restoration projects funded through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Toevs has held numerous positions with BLM Headquarters including Division Chief for Fish and Wildlife Conservation, Senior Policy Advisor and Assessment Inventory and Monitoring Program Project Manager.

Toevs has a PhD in Soil Science from the University of Idaho. Gordon is married to Brenda and are very appreciative of their three grown children, spouses, and grandchildren. Toevs was raised on a family farm in Southern Idaho and continues to enjoy trips back to the farm. He and Brenda, enjoy gardening, camping, entertaining, and introducing our grandchildren to the amazing beauty of our public lands.
