Subway Cares Foundation® Awards $300,000 in Grants to Nonprofit Organizations, Expands Subway® Fresh Start Scholarship™ Program

SHELTON, CT.(March 12, 2024)- The Subway Cares Foundation®, an independent, global nonprofit focused on fueling the potential of tomorrow's leaders, has awarded $300,000 in grants to six leading nonprofit organizations that share its mission of providing youth with greater access to nutritious food, tuition assistance and growth and leadership opportunities.

This year's grants will help thousands of people in need gain access to food, tuition assistance, and coaching and mentoring programs. They include:

1. The Farmlink Project and World Central Kitchen: Providing nutritious food to those experiencing food insecurity.

2. Folds of Honor and Nuts, Bolts, and Thingamajigs: Making higher education and vocational training more accessible and affordable.

3. Boys & Girls Clubs and iMentor: Coaching, mentoring and teaching leadership skills to help young people learn and grow.

"We have an immense responsibility to ensure today's youth are given the guidance, assistance and opportunities needed to succeed," said Michele DiNello, executive director of Subway Cares Foundation. "It's rewarding to expand our impact around the world with the second year of grants to organizations doing outstanding work in line with our mission."

Subway Fresh Start Scholarship™ Program

As part of the Subway Cares Foundation's commitment to supporting youth, the Subway Fresh Start scholarships provide tuition assistance to help employees of Subway restaurants continue their education at a college, university or a vocational-technical school.

Since the program was established in 2016, over $5 million in Subway Fresh Start Scholarships have been awarded to 2,000 Subway Sandwich Artists across North America and Australia. This year, the program will expand to include the United Kingdom and Ireland.

"With this scholarship, I can now pursue my educational goals with less financial burden and greater focus. Thank you for believing in my potential and investing in my future," says 2023 Scholarship winner Jennie Lee of Ontario, Canada.

Applications for the 2024 Fresh Start Scholarships opened on February 29. Eligible Subway restaurant employees are encouraged to apply by visiting https://aim.applyists.net/subwayscholarship.
