Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman slams US veto of Palestine full UN membership resolution

Kanaani strongly condemned as "irresponsible" and "unconstructive" the US move to veto a UN Security Council resolution that would make Palestine a full member of the world body.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani strongly condemned as "irresponsible" and "unconstructive" the US move to veto a UN Security Council resolution that would make Palestine a full member of the world body.

Kanaani said the decision exposes more than ever before the hypocrisy of the US foreign policy and Washington's isolation in the face of the world public opinion.

He added that the US regime's unilateral and unbridled political, economic, military, legal and international support of the Zionist regime with US taxpayer money and at the expense of regional and international peace and security for more than seven decades has not only become ineffective but it has also diminished the US in the eyes of world nations.

Kanaani noted that the US veto has further proved that Washington is not a neutral actor nor is it a responsible player in the international arena.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman one again reaffirmed Iran's support for the undeniable and legitimate right of the Palestinian people to form an independent state in all of the ancient land of Palestine from the Sea to the River with al-Quds being its capital.

Kanaani added that the Islamic Republic of Iran believes that the will of the heroic and resistant people of Palestine will ultimately triumph over the will of their enemies, above all the fake, apartheid and murderous Zionist regime
