Peoria and TheaterWorks Host Appreciation Night

PEORIA, Ariz. (June 8, 2022) - On Saturday, June 18 at 7 p.m., the City of Peoria and TheaterWorks will be hosting a special performance of the "Children of Eden" for the Peoria Appreciation Night, encouraging Peoria residents to only pay what they can for tickets.

"It is the City of Peoria's mission to make the arts accessible to everyone and this appreciation night is a way of showing off all the great local talent to Peoria residents," said Marylou Stephens, Peoria's Director of Arts, Culture and Library Services. "This is also a chance to support our local arts community and attract artists from across the Valley to create here in Peoria."

By fostering and supporting cultural opportunities for both local artists and the public, the City of Peoria can help enhance the quality of life in the community. In partnership with TheaterWorks and through the support of the Peoria Arts Commission, Peoria residents who otherwise would not be able to afford a theater ticket have the opportunity to attend the "Children of Eden" performance at whatever price they feel comfortable paying on June 18. Patrons can purchase general admission seating for the 7 p.m. show for as little as $1. Tickets are available online or at the TheaterWorks Box Office, located at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts at 10580 N. 83rd Dr.

"Children of Eden" is based on the first nine and half chapters of The Book of Genesis and explores the age-old conflict of parents and children through the generations, first Father (God) with Adam and Eve, then Adam and Eve with their sons Cain and Able, and finally Noah and his family. From musical theatre greats, Stephen Schwartz and John Caird, comes a joyous and inspirational musical about parents, children and love. The show ultimately delivers a bittersweet but inspiring message that "the hardest part of love… is letting go."
