EGAT recommended Sensor for All application to monitor PM2.5 with integrated data from over 1,200 sensor stations nationwide, applied innovations to make smog and wildfire alerts, and cooperated with volunteers to tackle wildfire and smog issues around EGAT dams and power plants.

Mr. Chaiwut Lakmuang, Assistant Governor - Sustainability Management and Deputy Spokesperson of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), revealed that due to current PM2.5 situation, EGAT was concerned on the public health, thus encouraging people to monitor real-time air quality via Sensor for All application integrating data from 1,262 sensor stations installed at power plants, industrial areas, intersections, and tourist attractions nationwide. Moreover, EGAT developed Lampang Hotspot application using sensor and satellite systems to precisely monitor hot spots of burned forest in Lampang Province and report the risk through the website to be a database for the fire operation.

EGAT and local volunteers established a fire watch team to conduct fire prevention lines and a fire operation team for fire operations around EGAT dams and power plants such as Bhumibol Dam, Sirikit Dam, Srinagarind Dam, hydropower plants in the Northeastern provinces. EGAT also urged the locals not to burn the forest for foraging wild mushroom to bring back the abundance to the forest in Mae Moh District. Besides, EGAT encouraged the community to reduce agricultural waste burning by purchasing corncob and bamboo scraps to make biomass pellets used with lignite as a fuel for Mae Moh Power Plant.

Furthermore, EGAT pushed ahead with the deployment of electric vehicles (EV) to lessen greenhouse gas emissions and particle matters concretely by installing 98 EV charging stations of EleX by EGAT and EleXA allies nationwide, using EVs in EGAT areas such as electric motorcycle and service minibus, and applying Work-from-Anywhere scheme to reduce the traffic congestion and air pollutant.
