New York Fed to Host Inaugural Summer Climate Finance Conference

NEW YORK-On Friday, May 31, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, in collaboration with New York University, will host the inaugural Summer Climate Finance conference. This in-person conference will convene academics and researchers in the fields of economics and finance. Kartik B. Athreya, Director of Research and Head of the Research and Statistics Group at the New York Fed, will also provide opening remarks at the conference.

Conference sessions will cover key issues in climate finance, including the impact of natural disasters or disaster mitigation attempts on economic output, financial stability, and credit access; climate migration on economic output, household welfare, and consumption; and biodiversity collapse on welfare and economic output. Sessions will also discuss the effects of green pledges on bank lending and aggregate economic output as well as the inflationary or macroeconomic effects of different carbon emission-mitigation techniques.
