Hitomi Sato Joins Features Design

We're thrilled to announce that Hitomi Sato, an award-winning creative thinker, will join the features design team as an art director.

Hitomi will join Jeremy Allen, who was promoted to art director last October, in leading visuals for the Styles desk.

Hitomi brings to The Times a wealth of experience from the magazine world. She's worked as an art director at New York magazine, Men's Health, Condé Nast Traveler and ESPN The Magazine. She's also freelanced at several other publications, including Fast Company, Esquire and Variety.

Hitomi joined The Times as a freelance designer in 2021 and has impressed us with her skill with typography and illustration, as well as her ability to organize complex information into inviting, impactful layouts. Her memorable work includes the 100 Best Restaurants in New York special section (designed in collaboration with Paul Jean) and the recent Styles timeline of the evolution of Williamsburg. Hitomi is known for her grace under pressure and the infectious, positive energy she brings to her work.

Hitomi grew up in Tokyo and came to New York to study design at the School for Visual Arts.

We're very excited to have Hitomi join the team. Please join us in congratulating her.
