Battle of Guilford Courthouse Reenactment and Education Events Hosted March 13-17

The City of Greensboro and the National Park Service (NPS) will host the reenactment of the Revolutionary War Battle of Guilford Courthouse, living history programs, and a lecture series from March 13-17 at Country Park and the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park. All programs are free.

Revolutionary Lecture Series
7 pm, Guilford Courthouse National Military Park Visitor Center, 2332 New Garden Rd.

  • Wednesday, March 13 - Trevor Freeman, alumnus of Appalachian State and East Carolina universities, will discuss the experience of North Carolina's Black patriots during the Revolutionary War.
  • Thursday, March 14 - Dr. Lawrence E. Babits, author of "Long, Obstinate and Bloody: The Battle of Guilford Courthouse," will present on his research about fighting on the north side of the battlefield.
  • Friday, March 15 - Dr. Shirley Green will discuss her book, "Revolutionary Blacks: Discovering the Frank Brothers, Freeborn Men of Color, Soldiers of Independence."

Battle of Guilford Courthouse Reenactment
10 am to 5 pm, Saturday, March 16, and 10 am to 3 pm, Sunday, March 17, Country Park and Guilford Courthouse National Military Park.
Event parking available at Jaycee Park, 3802 Jaycee Park Dr. Nathanael Greene Drive entrance is closed during this event.

  • The battle will be reenacted at 2 pm daily on land where the action took place in 1781. The reenactment starts promptly and visitors are encouraged to arrive at least 10 minutes early to walk or take the shuttle to the battlefield from the parking area.
  • Re-enactors will set up military encampments, depicting the lives of the 18th century Revolutionary War soldiers. Vendors will also be on hand with Colonial merchandise, goods and food for sale. There will be food and drinks for purchase at the battlefield.
  • NPS will also host living history programs, including musket and artillery demonstrations at Guilford Courthouse National Military Park from 11 am and 1 pm.
  • Due to the noise of the cannons and musket fire, dogs are not permitted on the battlefield.
