The Speaker leads a delegation to Finland

On Monday 16 January, the Speaker Andreas Norlén led a delegation of members of the Riksdag on an official visit to Finland.

According to tradition, Andreas Norlén's first visit abroad after being re-elected as Speaker went to Finland. The programme included meetings with Speaker Matti Vanhanen, President Sauli Niinistö and Prime Minister Sanna Marin. The delegation also met members of the Finnish Parliament: the Chairs of the parliamentary groups and members of the Grand Committee, the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Defence Committee.

Topics on the agenda included Nordic and bilateral relations, the countries' NATO applications, the regional security situation and the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis, the forthcoming Finnish elections and the Swedish EU Presidency.

The delegation included members of the Riksdag Morgan Johansson (Social Democratic Party), Aron Emilsson (Sweden Democrats), Hans Wallmark (Moderate Party), Kerstin Lundgren (Centre Party) and Secretary-General of the Riksdag Ingvar Mattsson.
