This week, the House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on the final passage of H.R. 3935, the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024, a comprehensive, bipartisan, bicameral bill to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and aviation infrastructure and safety programs for five years.
The FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024 is based on legislation that was first introduced in the House last year by Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO), Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Ranking Member Rick Larsen (D-WA), Aviation Subcommittee Chairman Garret Graves (R-LA) and Aviation Subcommittee Ranking Member Steve Cohen (D-TN).
Following the overwhelming House passage of that bill on July 23, 2023, and the subsequent approval of companion legislation by the Senate Commerce Committee earlier this year, House and Senate Committee leaders announced a final agreement on legislation on April 29, 2024. This agreement was approved by the Senate last week, and with House approval, the bill will then go to the President to be signed into law.
Is this video, the four House T&I Committee leaders talk about the importance of passing an FAA reauthorization and ensuring that Americans benefit from the safest and most efficient aerospace system in the world:
