Farmers and agriculturally focused organizations invited to apply to license the McAllister Ranch Ur

Members of the public are invited to submit applications to license the McAllister Ranch Urban Farm Incubator for urban agriculture. Licensed land is to be used for regenerative urban agriculture, educational programming, community gardening space or associated activities. Applications are due by 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024.

Eligible applicants include not-for-profit organizations, for-profit organizations, or a partnership between any of these entities. Applicants must have as a member of their team an individual with at least one year of experience in agricultural production. Applicants will also be asked to provide management, financial, and community engagement plans, as well as other relevant information. There is no cost to apply.

The goals of the Flagstaff Urban Farm Incubator include:

  • Establishing high-quality urban agriculture sites that use sustainable farming practices, complement adjacent properties, and utilize sound market strategies.
  • Increasing access to healthy, affordable food.
  • Improving environmental conditions on and around vacant and/or abandoned land by removing litter, improving soil, and recycling and composting materials.
  • Providing additional benefits to the City of Flagstaff and its residents, including improved aesthetics, stabilized or increased property values, job training, and employment opportunities.
  • Providing the adaptive reuse of a historic site with a compatible similar new use within the framework of historic barns and historic fencing.
