MEC Tertuis Simmers hands over houses at Our Pride housing project in Eerste River

Western Cape First Home Finance beneficiaries receive their brand-new houses.

Today, the provincial Minister of Infrastructure, Tertuis Simmers, alongside Mayoral Committee Member (MMC), James Vos, handed over house keys to 10 beneficiaries at the Our Pride housing project, in Eerste River.
The Our Pride housing project is a First Home Finance programme (FLISP), that has delivered 218 housing units. Two housing units will be for Breaking New Ground (BNG), the remainder being FLISP. The R102 million project was geared toward making affordable housing more accessible to all citizens.
Unable to contain her excitement, first-time homeowner, Jamie-Lee Willeman (28), described this moment as her greatest achievement. "I am delighted and overjoyed with the choice I've made. With the guidance of my mother, I took up the opportunity and applied for the FLISP subsidy and it has instantly helped improve my life."
In welcoming the beneficiaries to the new homes MMC Vos said, "We thank you for being part of building the City of Hope with us. Our mission is to provide more well-located human settlements, with access to employment and education centers. This is a great investment into your future and the families you will raise. Therefore, do take great care of these assets."
The First Home Finance programme is offered to households with an income between R3 501 - R22 000 per month.
With more than 200 beneficiaries anticipated to purchase homes in this project, Minister Simmers spoke on the importance of driving spatial transformation and economic accessibility, "This project reflects the joint efforts between the two spheres of government to accelerate the delivery of homes well-located to business hubs. Our commitment to making affordable housing more accessible is quite evident today. Many of our beneficiaries are below the age of 35. I am thrilled to see youth taking advantage of these opportunities."
The Western Cape continues to be the leading province in the delivery of affordable housing programme.
