Bumper bank holiday and half-term expected

London Stansted is expecting a bumper week ahead as thousands of Brits head off to enjoy the bank holiday weekend and half-term break.

Sun-seekers and city-breakers are among the 430,000 passengers who will be travelling through between May 25 and June 2.

Over the three-day weekend, almost 150,000 people are predicted to fly out, with 50,000 departing on Saturday (May 25) alone.

Combined with the large number of overseas visitors choosing Stansted as their gateway to the UK, over 845,000 passengers will be using the airport in total over the half-term holiday.

The Canary Islands, Turkey, Spain, Italy and Dubai are among the top sun destinations, while Dublin, Edinburgh and Barcelona are popular for city breaks.

Jon Fowler, London Stansted's Chief Operating Officer, said:

"With places not as busy as during the peak summer season and pleasant temperatures in many of the destinations we serve at this time of year, the spring half-term break is a popular time to get away. We've a busy week ahead so the advice as always is to allow good time for your journey to the airport and prepare for the security checks before leaving home to avoid any unnecessary delays."

London Stansted has a host of exciting new routes this summer, includingRoyal Jordanian's service to Amman, British Airways flights to Nice, Florence, and Ibiza, plus many more fromRyanair, Jet2.com and Sun Express.
