Participation and delivers a statement in the Regional Forum on Sustainable Development

On March 13, 2024, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva Mr. Sharaf Sheralizoda took part in the Regional Forum on Sustainable Development for the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Region.

In his speech, the Permanent Representative of Tajikistan mentioned the impact of the climate change and its consequences for millions of people, as well as Tajikistan's active promotion of an integrated approach to addressing water and climate issues.

In particular, was highlighted the importance of the UN General Assembly resolution on declaring 2025 as the «International Year of Glaciers' Preservation», March 21 as the «World Day of Glaciers», establishment of a UN Trust Fund in support of activities for glaciers' preservation and convening the International High-Level Conference on Glacier's Preservation in Dushanbe in 2025, which were initiated by the Republic of Tajikistan.
