Hertfordshire firefighters to pay tribute on Firefighters’ Memorial Day

Published: 03 May 2024

Firefighters across Hertfordshire will observe a minute's silence this Saturday, 4 May, to remember colleagues who have died or been injured whilst serving their communities as part of Firefighters Memorial Day.

Area Commander Andy Hall, Head of Operational Response for Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Services said: "On Saturday we will pay tribute to firefighters around the world for their courage and dedication in serving their community and remember colleagues and friends who we have lost in the line of duty.

"I know our communities will join us thanking all our firefighters for the work that they do, and their commitment to keeping our county safe."

As part of the commemorative day, which is also International Firefighters' Day, stations and crews across the county will pause at midday to show respect for the bravery of all firefighters who have died in the line of duty. Some stations may also choose to mark the moment with a commemorative parade.
