New Brunswick Police Host Second Annual “Pizza with Police” Event

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (March 28, 2024) - The New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) hosted its second-annual "Pizza with Police" event at New Brunswick High School, capping attendance at 25 students following last year's overwhelming response.

The event, aimed at fostering informal interaction between law enforcement officers and students, unfolded last week with Deputy Chief Michael Bobadilla offering insights into his Peruvian heritage while sharing a table filled with alfajores, a beloved dessert from his homeland.

Det. Virginia Lopez and Officer Richard Reed engaged students in conversations about law enforcement careers, amidst a backdrop of collaborative pizza-making in the school's culinary arts kitchen.

Deputy Chief Bobadilla underscored the human side of policing, urging attendees to perceive officers beyond their professional roles. The Pizza with Police initiative, a part of the broader Windows of Understanding public art project, signifies NBPD's commitment to fostering trust and camaraderie within the community, particularly among the school district's more than 9,000 students.
