The DA - Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM) orchestrated a meaningful Tree Planting activity in NSWRRDC HillPEZ, Brgy. Cuyambay, Tanay, Rizal. The event, convened on June 13, 2024, in observance of the 2024 Soil Conservation Month with the theme: "Conserve soil, sustain life". The esteemed presence of Dr. Alexander M. Abrazado Dean of College of Agriculture at University of Rizal System, DA-BSWM Assistant Director, Denise A. Solano, Division and Center Chiefs, Administrative Unit Heads, and BSWM employees made the activity more significant.

This Tree Planting activity encapsulates the essence of environmental stewardship and underscores the fundamental connection between soil health and the well-being of all living organisms. It serves as a poignant reminder of the vital role soil plays in supporting ecosystems, agriculture, and ultimately, human existence. By preserving and nurturing our soil resources, we ensure the sustainability of our planet and the prosperity of future generations.

Assistant Director Denise A. Solano conveyed an inspiring message during the program, emphasizing the significance of nurturing the next generation and imparting to them the vital importance of trees and the natural world. She underscored "great things come from small beginnings."

Engineer Eduardo V. Alberto, Division Chief of Soil Conservation and Management Division presented a Rationale for the Tree Planting Activity, highlighting its vital role in climate change mitigation and solution to increasing Carbon Dioxide (CO2) concentrations. He emphasized that this endeavor serves as a strategic intervention to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change by leveraging the significant carbon sequestration capacity inherent in trees. Furthermore, Engr. Alberto amplified the importance of tree planting and the overarching theme of Soil Conservation Month Activity, which centers on "conservation of soil, sustaining life."

Dr. Alexander M. Abrazado also gave his overwhelming gratitude and support to the DA-BSWM as the agency continues to promote conserving soil and sustaining life. He also imparted his knowledge on his expertise as the Dean of College of Agriculture at University of Rizal System.

The activity continued as the BSWM employees planted 400 different seedlings of banana, langka, lemon etc. at the area of HillPEZ Tanay Research Station. Participants' commitments extend beyond the act of planting, as it is equally vital to provide ongoing care and attentiveness to the planted trees.

Furthermore, the Tree Planting activity also commemorated the 73rd anniversary of the DA-BSWM, a testament to its continued commitment to soil and water conservation, sustainable land management, agricultural development and national soil health.
