TU to Welcome First-Year Students at Annual Convocation Ceremony

Incoming first-year students will be formally welcomed at Tiffin University's annual convocation on Saturday, August 19 beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the Heminger Center. New students, the TU Marching Band, cheerleaders and representatives from faculty and staff will parade down Miami St. before the event.

The event, simulating graduation, is open to the family and friends of TU's first-year students, as well as members of the press.

Convocation is an opportunity for students to become oriented to the next chapter of their lives and get acquainted with faculty, staff and peers prior to classes beginning.

"Each year, convocation fills me with such pride, as I am always confident our newest Dragons will make the most of their time spent with us," said Dr. Peter J. Holbrook, Provost and Chief Academic Officer.

"The importance of convocation cannot be understated," said Tiffin University President, Dr. Lillian Schumacher. "These students will be looking to us for guidance, encouragement and support as they begin their journeys through higher education, and need to know that TU is a place where they will belong and accomplish their academic potential. It is my honor and pleasure to facilitate this each fall."
