Five Local Law Enforcement Officers Graduate FBI National Academy

HOUSTON, TX-The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Houston Field Office congratulates five local law enforcement officers on their graduation from FBI National Academy (NA) Class #283. Each of the following graduates represents a law enforcement agency based within the FBI Houston area of responsibility which includes 40 southeast Texas counties:

• Lieutenant Garrett House, Brazos County Sheriff's Office
• Lieutenant Trenade Paddock-Roberts, Corpus Christi Police Department
• Lieutenant Adam Clay, Houston Police Department
• Captain Ornaldo Ybarra, Pearland Police Department
• Captain Henry Scarbrough, Texas Department of Public Safety

Prior to selection for FBI NA, nominees complete a highly competitive application process. On average, selected officers have 20+ years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.

Internationally known for its academic excellence, FBI NA welcomes approximately 265 law enforcement professionals per 10-week session to the FBI training facility in Quantico, Virginia. FBI Academy instructors teach rigorous courses on intelligence theory, terrorism and terrorist mindsets, advanced law enforcement communication, forensic science, and other topics. Students are eligible to earn undergraduate and graduate credits from the University of Virginia, which accredits many of the courses offered.

FBI NA was created in 1935 as the Police Training School to serve as a bridge that connects state and local law enforcement to international law enforcement. The partnerships the FBI forms with students and their individual agencies as a result of the program foster mutual understanding and increased interagency trust that are essential to law enforcement's collective efficacy, agility, and resiliency in the face of evolving threats locally, nationally, and worldwide.

Nearly 54,000 law enforcement professionals representing local, county, tribal, state, military, and federal law enforcement agencies from the United States have graduated from the FBI National Academy since its founding in 1935. Global law enforcement partners from more than 150 nations are also represented among the FBI NA alums. Each graduate may join the FBI National Academy Associates, Inc., a dynamic organization of more than 16,000 senior law enforcement professionals who continue improving the level of competency, cooperation, and integrity among the global law enforcement community.
