Last week, four VU student teams participated in the annual Benelux Algorithm Programming Contest (BAPC), which was organized this year by study association via (UvA). The BAPC is a competitive programming contest in which 50 teams of leading universities from the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg compete to solve algorithmic programming problems within 5 hours. It's a part of a long list of ICPC contests before a team can qualify for the ICPC World Finales.
After many years of joining ICPC competitions, the moment was finally there: the VU finally won BAPC 2023! The winners were from team λ placeholder, with Maciej Sidor, Matei Tinca and Dovydas Vadišius). One other VU team ended up in the top 10 too: team LNX with Maurice Ibrahim, Abhigya Anand and Liudas Staniulis became tenth (see also the full scoreboard here, or the BAPC website here).
