λ placeholder student team wins at BAPC 2023

Last week, four VU student teams participated in the annual Benelux Algorithm Programming Contest (BAPC), which was organized this year by study association via (UvA). The BAPC is a competitive programming contest in which 50 teams of leading universities from the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg compete to solve algorithmic programming problems within 5 hours. It's a part of a long list of ICPC contests before a team can qualify for the ICPC World Finales.

After many years of joining ICPC competitions, the moment was finally there: the VU finally won BAPC 2023! The winners were from team λ placeholder, with Maciej Sidor, Matei Tinca and Dovydas Vadišius). One other VU team ended up in the top 10 too: team LNX with Maurice Ibrahim, Abhigya Anand and Liudas Staniulis became tenth (see also the full scoreboard here, or the BAPC website here). Congratulations to all our winners!
