National Astronomy Day at the Museum of Natural History and Planetarium

Join us on Saturday, April 29, as we celebrate National Astronomy Day co-hosted by Skyscrapers, Inc. (Amateur Astronomical Society of RI), and the Museum of Natural History and Planetarium. Activities kick-off at the Museum of Natural History in Roger Williams Park and will run from 12:30-3:30pm with planetarium shows at 1pm and 2pm (planetarium show tickets must be purchased online), public solar observing and astronomy activities. White light, hydrogen alpha, and projection telescopes will be set up in front of the museum for viewing the magnificent details of the sun. Skyscrapers members and museum staff will be presenting activity tables that will include: Beginner Astronomy, the James Webb Space Telescope and the Effects of Light Pollution.

Other happenings:
Seagrave Memorial Observatory in N. Scituate will present short videos and give tours of the night sky using binoculars. The observatory's 8 3/4" Alvan Clark and 12" Meade telescopes will be open from 7:30pm-9:30pm for viewing a variety of celestial objects.
