DMV RETURNS TO NY INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW MARCH 29-APRIL 7

Customers Can Conduct License and Other Transactions, Learn About DMV Services and Initiatives

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) today announced that for the first time, customers can renew or upgrade their driver license or non-driver ID during the New York International Auto Show. In addition, customers will have the option to get an eye test done, conduct a range of online transactions and get information on DMV services and initiatives at the exhibit.

The DMV booth will be open for the duration of the Auto Show from March 29 through April 7, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. Showgoers can find the DMV at booth number NC 5, Second Level, North Concourse.

"It's always a pleasure for us to participate in the Northeast's premiere auto show, and we're very excited this year to add transactions to the wide array of customer services available at our exhibit," said DMV Commissioner Mark J.F. Schroeder. "We hope visitors enjoy this exhilarating showcase of the latest offerings from top automotive brands and the family friendly festivities, and we also hope they take the time to stop by to see us."

During the Auto Show, information will be available about REAL ID, and DMV staff will be on hand to assist customers who wish to upgrade their driver license or non-driver ID to a REAL ID or Enhanced ID. Beginning May 7, 2025, the REAL ID Act will require that everyone traveling domestically by plane or entering certain federal buildings have a REAL ID or another compliant document like an Enhanced ID or Passport.

DMV is offering this service during the International Auto Show as an additional way for New Yorkers to get a REAL ID or Enhanced ID before the deadline. Those who take advantage of this offering will need to bring proof of their name, date of birth and New York State residency. They can use DMV's convenient online checklist to find out exactly what documents they need to bring.

DMV staff will also be available to assist customers with the department's online transactions, provide information on the DMV vision registry, organ donation and voter registration, and there will be a variety of custom plates on display that are available to be ordered. Staff will also be able to help customers schedule reservations to visit a DMV office for services not available online or at the Auto Show.
