Singapore's street shopping icon and tourist mecca Bugis Street, long a cornerstone of the historic Bras Basah.Bugis precinct, has unveiled a refreshed shopping experience. Combining its signature collection of eclectic shops and hidden treasures with new, improved spaces and wider walkways, the revamped Bugis Street promises to delight locals and tourists with a plethora of offerings housed in its main three-storey complex and the historic pre-war shophouses lining its perimeter. Bugis Street is master-leased by CapitaLand Development and operated by CapitaLand Investment.

New Arts and Event Spaces

Fans of the hidden murals located in Bugis Street's back lane leading to the colourful spiral staircases will be delighted to know that the area has been turned into a pedestrian zone. Named Art Lane, it now offers more Instagrammable photo spots with a set of vibrant murals. The Art Lane includes multiple pathways to Bugis Street's main shopping street, providing improved connectivity to shops, additional seating spaces that serve as pit stops for weary feet, and tucked-away wrought-iron swing sets that give the young-at-heart a chance to indulge in a moment of nostalgia. Come night-time, the Art Lane takes on a new lease of life with light projections and serves as an avenue for live street performances and other activities.

Another new event venue is the soon-to-be unveiled The Rooftop, which sits atop a little-known private carpark housed in a bright red building at the corner of Queen Street and Cheng Yan Place. Currently used to showcase the giant inflatable installation Florescence by illustrator and visual artist Kristal Melson till end October 2023, The Rooftop will thereafter be converted into a multi-purpose lifestyle venue hosting an exciting calendar of events, ranging from group fitness activities at sunrise to rooftop parties at sunset. Shopaholics can look forward to surprise swap meets, secret bazaars and fleeting flea markets - umbrellas and sunscreens are highly recommended for visitors!

Better Connectivity and Convenience

The revamped Bugis Street has added a new link bridge, directly connecting Level 3 of Bugis Street's main shopping complex to Level 2 of Bugis+ and providing sheltered access to the Bugis MRT station. With this link bridge, all three properties within CapitaLand's Bugis Town - comprising Bugis Junction, Bugis+ and Bugis Street - are now seamlessly integrated with sheltered walkways.

Bugis Street's main shopping complex has also introduced the new Urban Staircase. Situated at the mid-point of the Level 1 central thoroughfare, the stairs provide a new access point to the upper floors, teeming with the latest fashion trends and a myriad of beauty services, along with other novelties. Designed as a pathway, a green stop, a rest area and an interactive corner, these multi-purpose stairs add a new dimension to the Bugis Street experience. Along with enlarged entrances along Victoria Street and Queen Street, as well as a widened walkway, shoppers are set to enjoy a more spacious and breezier main street shopping experience.

An Iconic Singaporean Shopping Street

With nearly 400 shops, Bugis Street is a local shopping haven well-known for being one of the must-visit destinations in Singapore for affordable souvenirs, accessories, clothes, and cosmetics. Added on to this plethora of shops is a refreshed tenant mix that embraces both local heritage and cultural identity synonymous with the greater Bugis area yet infuses new experiences to excite and engage.

Brand-New Hospitality Tenants

New kid on the block Arena eSportsHotel is the largest esports hotel in Singapore. It comprises 25,000 sq ft of co-working, co-playing and co-living facilities. All rooms come fully equipped with professional grade esports equipment and the highlight is a special five-a-side mini game arena.

Bask in culture, comfort and elegance, and enjoy modern apartment-living in stylish restored shophouses along Bugis Street. Relish an extended stay at one of these heritage buildings with hospitality brand Hovoh operated by CP Residences. These serviced apartments are a nod to the neighbourhood's charm while preserving the integrity of Peranakan architecture.

A Local and Asian Food Paradise

Foodies can look forward to eating their way through Bugis Street, with an endless parade of Asian snacks and local delights. Singapore heritage confectioner Ji Xiang Ang Ku Kueh occupies a 2-unit shophouse space along Victoria Street, selling a variety of colourful ang gu kueh (loosely translated from Hokkien as "red tortoise cake", a dessert made with glutinous rice flour skin wrapped with a sweet filling) that appeals to the young and old. Food explorers will be able to catch a glimpse of the huge steamers in action at the open kitchen and the hands-on type will have the opportunity to make their own kueh in a dedicated workshop zone.

To enjoy overseas flavours, head to the red building along Queen Street facing the famous Albert Centre Market to find Chanko Oden, which sells assorted Japanese fish cakes and more on sticks, stewed in delightfully savoury broth. Adventurous foodies can challenge themselves to boneless chicken feet from Lu Xiao Xian, with a choice of lemon, spicy, garlic and mala flavours.

Those prone to the late-night munchies will be happy to discover premium codfish and cuttlefish treats from Hock Leng Biz Channels, as well as a variety of international treats along with trinkets, apparel and other merchandise at Joe's Outlets.

Soon to be introduced are three new dine-in locations - Food Lagoon, a mini food court at the heart of Level 1's main shopping street presents a selection of local hawker favourites, while LittleTeahouse by Soup Restaurant will dish out dim sum delights alongside Café O, a reinterpretation of traditional local coffee shops of yesteryear.

Endless Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle Options

Followers of the latest K-trends, J-trends and C-trends will continue to find endless affordable fashion and beauty options from Levels 1 to 3 of the main shopping complex, including the famous stretch of nail salons on Level 3. Those looking for a day at the salon can visit the expert hair artists at K-salons Juno Hair and White Salon. Adored by regulars and new visitors alike, Bugis Street stalwarts Indian Beauty Art and BugisTattoo continue to delight customers with their top-notch services.

An Integral Part of Bugis Town
