Essential work will be taking place this weekend (2 - 3 March) to progress the upgrading of the existing traffic signals and pedestrian crossing on the A350 Beanacre Road.

On the A350 southbound carriageway construction work will be taking place to install additional infrastructure for the upgraded traffic signals at this junction during the weekend. The works required will take place on Saturday 2 March resulting in the temporary traffic signals operating the A350 as a single lane of traffic throughout the whole weekend to allow the surface to be secure before opening the carriageway to live traffic. Completing this part of the construction works this weekend will allow the A350 to operate as two way traffic at all times for the remainder of the construction period.

The completion of the scheme will see the refurbishment of the existing traffic signals and pedestrian crossing infrastructure at the junction outside Aldi and McDonald's, including increasing the size of one of the refuge islands to make it safer for pedestrians and upgrading of the crossing equipment to puffin technology, which use traffic lights with sensors to monitor pedestrians to ensure they have safely crossed the road.

This work is separate to the upcoming A350 resurfacing work that was confirmed yesterday.

Cllr Caroline Thomas, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: "We thank people for their continued patience as we complete this essential work. We recognise this work will cause some disruption over the weekend and apologise to those affected, but these improvement works will result in an upgraded signalised junction with pedestrian crossing facilities that will make it safer for all road users."
