Rep. Gallego Releases Report on Supporting Arizona's Veterans

Gallego released the report on 3/25, in honor of his Lima 3/25 brothers

PHOENIX - On 3/25, in honor of his fellow Marines in Lima 3/25, Rep. Ruben Gallego (AZ-03) released his new report: Supporting Arizona's Veterans. The report details Rep. Gallego's extensive work to ensure Arizona's veterans and their loved ones get the benefits they earned through service and sacrifice.

"When I came home from Iraq, I experienced firsthand how our government does - and too often doesn't - take care of our veterans. I saw how my brothers and sisters in arms were left to adjust back to civilian life on their own - to deal with mental and physical wounds, to find financial security, to return to some form of 'normal,'" said Rep. Gallego. "It's what made me decide to run for office. And, as this report details, it's why I'm fighting every day to fix the system for my fellow veterans."

The report covers Rep. Gallego's work on a wide range of issues impacting veterans, including expanding and ensuring access to benefits, improving VA health care, women veterans, reproductive rights, education, housing, and military families.

Background on Rep. Gallego's Military Service

Rep. Gallego enlisted in the Marine Corps and deployed to Iraq in 2005 as an infantryman, serving with Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines.

His Company - at first dubbed "Lucky Lima" - went on to see some of the worst fighting of the Iraq War, losing 22 Marines and a Navy Corpsman to enemy action in eight months. Following his experience in Iraq, Rep. Gallego committed to ensuring that servicemen and -women are never sent into harm's way without a plan for winning the fight and ensuring their wellbeing while deployed and back home.

Since first being sworn into Congress in 2015, Rep. Gallego has fought for service members, veterans, and military families as a member of the House Armed Services Committee. In the 117th Congress, Rep. Gallego had the rare distinction of serving on three committees, including the House Veterans Affairs Committee.
