Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Makei takes part in the Joint Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defense Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the CSTO in Yerevan

On November 23, 2022 in Yerevan (the Republic of Armenia), the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, took part in a joint meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defense Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

At the meeting a frank exchange of views took place on a wide range of issues of regional and global security, as well as on the current military-political situation in the CSTO area of ​​responsibility.

V.Makei noted in his speech that the deepening crisis of the existing world order, affecting all spheres of international relations. He announced the discrediting of the most important institutions for maintaining peace, security and stability, such as the UN and the OSCE, the destruction of international instruments in the field of arms control and non-proliferation. He expressed deep concern over the unprecedented militarization of NATO member countries neighboring Belarus, which contributes to the growth of military-political tension and provokes a further arms race.

The head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry called on the CSTO member states to strengthen cohesion and solidarity in order to more effectively counter modern security challenges and threats.

At the joint meeting, a number of documents on pressing issues of development and improvement of the CSTO were approved, which were submitted for consideration to the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.

The meeting also adopted a number of statements by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CSTO member states on topical issues on the international agenda, including a statement developed at the initiative of Belarus on strengthening the architecture of international and regional security and arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation.

On the eve of the joint meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, CMO, CSTO CSTO in Yerevan on November 22 of this year. a working meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CSTO member states was held, at which the parties discussed issues of foreign policy coordination within the framework of the CSTO.
