Statement on FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022

Respect for human rights is a fundamental value of The Coca-Cola Company. We know FIFA is working with Qatari authorities to address questions regarding specific labor and human rights issues involving the FIFA World Cup 2022, including worker safety. We are closely monitoring those efforts and regularly discussing our expectations with FIFA.

To that end, the organizing committee for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2016 with the Building and Wood Workers' International Union outlining their collaboration on joint inspections of construction sites, worker safety training and a review of existing grievance mechanisms. 

We expect these and other worker safety initiatives to be fully implemented and adhered to, and for FIFA to continue working with Qatar to ensure workers' rights, including workplace safety, are respected.
