DWU announces winners from 2023 Fall Scholarship Day

Dakota Wesleyan University has announced fall scholarship winners from high school senior classes.

MITCHELL - Dakota Wesleyan University has announced fall scholarship winners from high school senior classes.

37 high school seniors competed last month for the university's most prestigious scholarships as part of DWU's Fall Scholarship Day on Nov. 17. Students with outstanding academic status, leadership potential and commitment to serving others were invited to campus to meet with faculty, staff and students, or virtually, while exploring opportunities at DWU.

The following is a list of Randall Scholarship and Presidential Leadership winners, DWU's most competitive scholarships:

Randall Scholarship winners: To qualify for a Randall Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.7 GPA and must meet certain leadership/service qualifications. The scholarship is $25,000 per year.

Addison Fox, Sioux Falls, Roosevelt High School, daughter of Jamie Fox and Chris Fox

Haylon Heiting, Spearfish, Spearfish High School, son of Corey and Barb Heiting

Olivia Holmen, Watertown, Great Plains Lutheran High School, daughter of Jeremy and Heather Holmen

Autumn Lentz, Fulton, Mitchell High School, daughter of John and Heather Lentz

Aliyah McGovern, Sioux Falls, Jefferson High School, daughter of Amanda McGovern

Presidential Leadership Scholarship winners: To qualify for a Presidential Leadership Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.25 GPA and must meet certain leadership/service qualifications. The scholarship is $21,000 per year.

Carson Drexler, Harrisburg, Harrisburg High School, son of Jeff and Nichole Drexler

Daniel Jacobs, Rapid City, Home School, son of Connie Sue and Corey Jacobs

DWU also awarded Achievement, John Wesley, Trustee and Presidential Scholarships:

Achievement Scholarship winners: To qualify for an Achievement Scholarship, students must have a 4.0 GPA. The award is for $16,000 and is renewable for up to 10 semesters if the student remains in good standing.

Olivia Bures, Tyndall, Bon Homme High School, daughter of Paula and Daniel Bures, also awarded an Extracurricular Scholarship

Sharien Hannigan, Parkston, Parkston High School, daughter of Brian Benscoter

Carter Harris, Mitchell, Mitchell High School, son of David and Karie Harris, also awarded an Alumni scholarship

Nicolette Hoffman, Armour, Armour High School, daughter of Nick and Donelle Hoffman, also awarded an Impact scholarship

John Wesley Scholarship winners: To qualify for a John Wesley Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.7 GPA. The award is for $13,000 to $14,750 and is renewable for up to 10 semesters if the student remains in good standing.

Rian Douvier, Mitchell, Mitchell High School, daughter of Noel and Jason Stoebner, also awarded a performing arts scholarship and a dual credit scholarship

Ally Ernsberger, Newark, Ohio, Granville High School, daughter of Phil and Angela Ernsberger, also awarded an Extracurricular scholarship

Elese Gerlach, Corsica, Corsica-Stickney High School, daughter of Sarah and Paul Gerlach

Raelynn Kuhlman, Wagner, Wagner High School, daughter of Mike and Jamie Kuhlman

Chase Preston, Craig, Colo., Hayden High School, son of Craig and Mandy Preston

Jaycee Tebay, Dell Rapids, Dell Rapids St. Mary's Catholic School, daughter of Casey and Lacey Tebay, also awarded an Extracurricular scholarship and a Team Makers scholarship

Abby Wagner, Salem, McCook Central High School, daughter of Dan and Joni Wagner, also awarded an Extracurricular scholarship

Trustee Scholarship winners: To qualify for a Trustee Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.5 GPA. The award is for $12,000 to $13,750 and is renewable for up to 10 semesters if the student remains in good standing.

Peyton Hora, Oacoma, Chamberlain High School, son of Nikki Rodas and Craig Hora

Colton Padgett, Brandon, Brandon Valley High School, son of Sheri Padgett and Duane Klay, also awarded an Extracurricular scholarship
