Dr. Ruiz Visits U.S.-Mexico Border to Evaluate Communities’ Needs & Identify Solutions
Calexico, CA - Today, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-25) visited the U.S.-Mexico border where he met with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and local officials to assess the situation on the ground and discuss Southern California's immigration needs. Following his tour of the Calexico West Port of Entry (POE), Dr. Ruiz met with the City of Calexico and Imperial County officials for a discussion on support for border communities. "I thank our local CBP officers and city and county representatives for their important work every day at our nation's borders," said Dr. Ruiz. "At the first opportunity, I visited the border to assess our communities' needs and identify real, collaborative solutions to prevent drugs from entering our nation and to manage asylum seekers professionally and humanely. I will continue to advocate for bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform that modernizes our border management, stabilizes our workforce, boosts our economy, and delivers an earned pathway to citizenship for hardworking immigrants and Dreamers." Dr. Ruiz is an emergency medicine physician and public health expert serving California's 25thCongressional District. He represents portions of Riverside County and San Bernardino County.
