Statement from Mayor O’Connor on the passing of former Alderwoman Marcia Hall

It is with a heavy heart that I extend my sincerest condolences to the family, friends, and constituents of the late Alderwoman Marcia Hall. Marcia's passing is a profound loss for our community, as she was not only a dedicated public servant but also a visionary leader who played a crucial role in shaping the future of our beloved city.

Marcia's unwavering commitment to public service and her profound dedication to the betterment of Frederick will forever be remembered. Her vision for our community was one of progress, unity, and prosperity, and it is through her tireless efforts that we continue to see the positive impact of her legacy.

One of Marcia's significant contributions was her advocacy for a new police headquarters, a project that the City is now delivering on, many years later. Her foresight and determination have paved the way for a safer and more secure Frederick, a testament to her enduring commitment to the well-being of our residents.

Furthermore, Marcia passionately worked towards strengthening our ties at the state level, aiming to make The City of Frederick more relevant in state government. Her advocacy and tenacity have left an indelible mark on our city's political landscape, and we are grateful for the foundation she laid to ensure our community's voice resonates beyond our city limits.

In honoring Alderwoman Hall's memory, let us unite in continuing her vision for Frederick. Let us work together to bring to fruition the dreams and aspirations she so passionately championed. In doing so, we pay tribute to a remarkable woman who dedicated her life to the service of others.

On behalf of the City of Frederick, I extend our deepest sympathies to Marcia's family during this difficult time. We are thankful for the legacy of service she leaves behind and will strive to uphold the values and vision she so passionately believed in.

By virtue of the Maryland Code Regulations 01.01.1999.30paragraph I have ordered the Maryland State and City of Frederick flags lowered to half-staff effective immediately until Monday morning as a small gesture to recognize and honor Alderwoman Hall's legacy.
