The national Battle of the Books for deaf and hard of hearing students in grades 5-8 is this weekend! Students from schools in the United States and England - 13 teams in all because some schools have teams in both divisions of the competition - are arriving today and will compete on Saturday and Sunday. The championship matches for the Buff and Blue Divisions will be on Sunday afternoon in Andrew J. Foster Auditorium.

Two weeks from now, 16 teams of the best and brightest deaf and hard of hearing high school students in the nation will come to campus for the 28th annual National Academic Bowl. The competition is on Friday, April 19; Saturday, April 20; and Sunday, April 21, with the championship match on Sunday evening in Elstad Auditorium.

The National Academic Bowl seeks volunteers; sign up at this link.

If you are on campus and encounter any of the Battle of the Books or Academic Bowl teams, please extend a warm "Welcome to Gallaudet!" These students represent our future.

Both events are free and open to the public.
