Conemaugh Learning Institute Offering CPR and First Aid Training Courses

September 28, 2021

As an American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center, Conemaugh Learning Institute is offering CPR and First Aid certification courses for healthcare professionals, first responders, and the general public. Training occurs using blended learning or an instructor-led classroom format.

The blended learning format gives the student more control to complete the course at their own pace. This format includes an online portion followed by a hands-on skills session with an AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.

The instructor-led format includes a more traditional classroom setting where students watch videos and participate in learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor on CPR skills practice and skills testing. Students complete a written exam at the end of the course. Regardless of the format selected, students leave with the life-saving skills they need.

"Heart disease is the number one cause of death in the world," said Mindy Stohon, Conemaugh Learning Institute Program Coordinator. "Effective bystander CPR, if it's performed directly after a cardiac arrest, can double or even triple the chance of the victim's survival."

Conemaugh Learning Institute offers training for volunteer groups, businesses, and individuals. Groups of four or more are needed to schedule CPR or First Aid training. Interested groups can contact Conemaugh Learning Institute to schedule sessions at 814.534.9782. For in-person learning experiences, masks are required and social distancing will be practiced.
