Sen. Ossoff Expanding Resources for Moms & Families in Coastal Georgia

Savannah, Ga. - U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is delivering new resources to expand access to vital supplies for new moms and families in Coastal Georgia.

Today Sen. Ossoff announced he is delivering Federal funding for Over the Moon Diaper Bank, a nonprofit that distributes diapers and other needs for infants and families in and around Savannah. With the Federal funding, the organization will expand operations to reach more families in rural areas, partnering with health care providers like public health clinics, agencies, and hospitals.

According to Over the Moon, 47% of U.S. families with small children experience diaper need, and 63% of U.S. military families experience diaper need. The organization also says 74% of families receiving diapers in Georgia are working and still unable to afford a constant supply of diapers.

Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to deliver $381,000 for the project through this year's bipartisan government funding package, working alongside Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock.

"I've appropriated funds to expand diaper bank services in Coastal Georgia so families can access diapers and other supplies essential for infants," Sen. Ossoff said. "I thank Katie Griffith, founder and executive director of Over the Moon Diaper Bank, for bringing this proposal to my office and for her leadership in the community."

"Over the Moon Diaper Bank provides basic necessities that families need to thrive yet often cannot afford. With the support of Senators Ossoff and Warnock and their teams, we will expand our mission to end diaper need in rural Georgia to promote healthier, sustainable environments for the children and families in our region," said Katie Griffith, Over the Moon Executive Director and Founder. "We are incredibly grateful for this generous funding and the impact this important work will have in our coastal communities."
