REP. CORREA, MAYOR DUNLAP ANNOUNCE $500,000 FOR FULLERTON AIRPORT TECHNOLOGY, ACCESSIBILITY UPGRADES

WASHINGTON - Today, Representative Lou Correa (D-Fullerton) and Fullerton Mayor Nicholas Dunlap announced the delivery of $500,000 in federal tax dollars for the City of Fullerton and Fullerton Municipal Airport (FUL) to fund much-needed technology and accessibility upgrades for its Air Traffic Control Tower. This funding is a direct result of Democrats' passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), which Correa helped get signed into law.

"From tourism, emergency services, containing raging wildfires, and more, Fullerton Municipal Airport serves as a small-but mighty-part of our Orange County community, and this announcement is a shining example of government delivering for Main Street," Correa said."With these federal tax dollars, those who rely on this vital local service can rest assured that the property will remain accessible, and those charged with ensuring airport operations are working on the most up-to-date systems to keep passengers safe. This is a win for residents, tourists, and airport staff alike; and will ensure all who call Orange County home can continue to 'Fly Friendly,' to the future and beyond."

Specifically, the funding will be used to rehabilitate portions of the Airport Traffic Control Tower with improvements including an ADA compliant stairway, restroom upgrade, sound insulation, IT/security, lighting, electrical and utility upgrades.

"We've begun the process of reimagining the airport to plan for future use and modernization-and this funding will help us as we continue down that path and work to ensure that the airport remains a vital part of our city's infrastructure,"Dunlap said."I thank Congressman Correa for working hand-in-hand with the Fullerton community to ensure that we have the resources we need to continue flying into the future, and delivering for those who call our community home."

This funding was made available through the Federal Aviation Administration's FY2024 Contract Tower Competitive Grant Program which was created through the BIL with the help of Rep. Correa, and allows airports to sustain, construct, repair, improve, rehabilitate, modernize, replace, or relocate non-approach control towers; acquire and install air traffic control, communications, and related equipment to be used in those towers.
