2024 Change of Command Rushmore

CAP Lt. Lauri Ziebarth assumed command of Rushmore Composite Squadron on May 9 in a change of command ceremony during the squadron meeting at Ellsworth AFB.

The traditional passing of the flag ceremony was officiated by Col. Michael Marek, SD Wing commander, who noted that Rushmore Composite Squadron is the oldest CAP squadron in continuous service in South Dakota, resulting in a long heritage of squadron volunteers serving America's communities, saving lives, and shaping futures. He encouraged members to continue to make the squadron's success a team effort.

Ziebarth succeeded Lt. Col. Howard Steiner, who was completing his term as commander.
