WCO provides Project Management training to Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA)

After the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) highlighted project management as a priority area for capacity building, the World Customs Organization (WCO) delivered a week-long training to strengthen the LRA's Customs Reform and Modernisation Unit responsible for project management. The workshop was made possible under the auspices of the Accelerate Trade Facilitation Programme, sponsored by the United Kingdom's His Majesty's Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

The long-term objective of the training is to strengthen the LRA's capacities to effectively design and manage Customs reform and modernization initiatives as part of its Mercator approach for effective implementation of the World Trade Organization's Trade Facilitation Agreement. The workshop, which took place from 6th to 10th February 2023, served to disseminate and deepen participants' knowledge of best practices and modern techniques in specific areas of Customs Project Management to enable the LRA to be better equipped to manage and oversee the implementation of international standards and ensuring the sustainability of reforms.

The LRA expressed appreciation for the project management training and is committed to the action plans developed to facilitate future project implementation. The WCO looks forward to a strong and fruitful collaboration with LRA.
