Adelphi Graduate Programs Make Big Jumps in U.S. News & World Report Rankings

Adelphi's growing emphasis on graduate education is gaining national attention.

This fall, Adelphi made significant jumps in the U.S. News & World Report rankings of colleges and undergraduate programs.

Now it's the University's graduate programs that are making double-digit leaps in the publication's lists of the nation's best.

Three Adelphi graduate programs are included in the Top 100 in the 2024 U.S. News Best Grad School rankings.

Four other graduate programs are also included in the U.S. News Best Grad School Rankings: the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business part-time MBA; the Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology master's degree programs in psychology and PhD in Clinical Psychology; and the College of Nursing and Public Health master's degree in public health.

"We're very proud of Adelphi University's growing reputation for offering graduate students high-quality academic and professional programs," said Christopher Storm, PhD, Adelphi's provost and executive vice president. "This is a meaningful recognition of the value and strength of a higher degree from Adelphi."

A Growing Focus on Graduate Education

The risings rankings are an outgrowth of the increasing emphasis on graduate education called for by our Momentum2 strategic plan. The University has launched numerous programs in the past few years, especially ones geared to in-demand careers, like the MS in Professional Accounting and MS in Business Analytics.

In all, Adelphi offers 93 master's degree and doctoral programs. All include hands-on training in internships and clinical experience in top local organizations. Many offer flexible online and hybrid formats, allowing working students and adult students to earn the degrees they need to advance their careers. Some offer unique opportunities developed by our faculty, like the IDEATE Fellowship in Behavioral Healthcare, a yearlong experience for students in our social work and nursing graduate programs.

What Distinguishes Our Top 100 Programs

It is no surprise that master's degree programs in nursing at Adelphi are recognized as among the nation's best. The College of Nursing and Public Health itself is one of only seven institutions in the country recognized by the National League for Nursing for advancing the science of nursing education.

The College offers MS programs in adult gerontology primary care nurse practitioner, healthcare informatics, nursing education, and psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner.

Nursing programs are part of Adelphi's emphasis on health and wellness-one of our "Core Four" areas of study, along with arts and humanities, STEM and social sciences, and the business and education professions. So are the other two Top 100 programs.

Adelphi's Doctor of Audiology degree is distinctive for its participation in a unique consortium of three universities on Long Island. It also stands out for its deep commitment to maintaining an inclusive learning environment and to addressing issues affecting historically underserved and underrepresented populations.

The School of Social Work, which recently celebrated its 70th anniversary, lives its mission of social justice and serves communities across New York state. It offers its master's degree program in four locations-Garden City and Hauppauge on Long Island, in New York City and the Hudson Valley-and online. MSW students can choose to specialize in a number of areas, including mental health, substance abuse and trauma.

"These rankings improvements demonstrate the progress Adelphi is making toward the goals set in our Momentum 2 strategic plan," said Adelphi's president, Christine M. Riordan. "They underscore the excellence and rigor of our academic offerings and reflect our steadfast commitment to innovation, inclusion and community impact."
