Three LMU Students Named 2024-2025 Fulbright Finalists

Three LMU students have been selected as finalists, and an additional three as alternates or semi-finalists, for the 2024-25 Fulbright U.S. Student Program. Two finalists will take part in the English Teaching Assistant Award program, and one finalist was selected to study in Denmark.

"Both LMU and Fulbright empower students to recognize their responsibilities beyond national borders, promoting empathy, cooperation, and a sense of shared humanity in addressing global challenges," said Cassidy Alvarado, Ed.D., director of National and International Fellowships.

The finalists are:

  • Iliana Chen '24, education and learning sciences and environmental studies, who is a finalist to teach English in Uruguay;
  • Rachel Dulski '23, psychology, who is a finalist to teach English in Taiwan;
  • Lindley Saffeir '23, computer science, who is a finalist to study in Denmark
    • Saffeir has declined her award to attend a funded master's program at Sciences Po in Paris, France.

The alternate is:

  • Joshua Petteruti '24, environmental science, is an alternate to study in Finland.

The semi-finalists are:

  • Dan Brown '24, MFA in film and television production, semi-finalist to teach English in South Korea
  • Noah Kim '24, screenwriting and environmental studies, semi-finalist for a creative project in Vietnam

This year 21 LMU students and alumni submitted Fulbright applications.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is the country's largest exchange program, offering opportunities for students and young professionals to undertake international graduate study, advanced research, university teaching, and primary and secondary school teaching worldwide. The program awards roughly 2,000 grants annually in all fields of study and operates in more than 140 countries.
